Wondering why I'm at home at this time, when I actually wanted to go over to Zouk or Orchard for the terrific countdown...but with the natural disaster that occurred, no one seemed to be in the mood for celebration. Live telecast of the Foam Party over @ Sentosa is off, and no fireworks. So, we call it a 'Black New Year' huh...
Today morning, went camp, had soccer, and ran a little, but overall due to the rain it was not really productive. Heh. But we still had a great coy bond and I think that was what is required. Esp. with the latest changes.
Afternoon, it was KTV with some of the guys (Yong Ee, Jansen, Sebastian, Wei Xiong, Vijay, Thomas, Kok Fong, Selestine, Kevin & Lionel). Was a great outing, but as usual, not a good singer. Hehz. Need to train, maybe I'll put that as a resolution -ponders-
Then met up with Jiahui for a dinner, well actually I was the one drinking and she was eating. lolx. Yeap, was supposed to go out but with the rain....haha. Plans aborted.
Now for some resolution making, some flashbacks to the past, some pondering I've been doing, some confessions I have...
2004 had been a pretty okay year for me. First up, the Commissioning Parade which I had done in Jan, on 'Ren Ri'. Definitely unforgettable, since it marked the end of a year of vigourous training in which we, as cadets, were pushed to our limits and tested our tolerance for pain. Getting SOM, was really an honour. Nevertheless, I've yet to receive my Sword Case yet. It's gonna be 1 year since I commissioned, and no sword case so... -.-'
Then there was the posting to my current unit, 6DSMB, which was pretty ok. I mean, location-wise. Work-wise, hectic, but somehow I feel that if I were one of the men, I would be doing much more. I dunno why, but just get that feeling. I have to command and do stuff, and sometimes when u task ppl to do the stuff you require, you wonder whether you will learn. No upper-study, had to learn from scratch, and still learning till this very day.
And the events which unfolded around the world. The recent natural disaster claiming so many lives that actual figures are skyrocketing like the NASDAQ index during the blue-chip boom. And the rebuilding of the Nicoll Highway, which will be passable to traffic soon.
Spent a portion of my time on NDP, a rather big project to me indeed. Logistics availability in form of food and drinks to all participants and working party was difficult to manage initially, but I soon got a hold of it. Nonetheless, I've lashed out at people who are not cooperating, and thinking bad, I know it's just my fault.
And a mind which is not ready for relationship also. I guess I am more enthu about my work than relationship, and I find it tiring. Am I ready? I think not. Crushes too. And friendships forged. Online friends met during the year. In the back of mind, I feel that I'll just let nature take its course and see how it goes.
Other projects upcoming for me after the NDP period were the ICT, which was interesting as I met one of my teacher's in it! Following it was the AHM 21km run, definitely a good experience. Running till shagged, legs screaming and feet aching.
Then I changed from SA PC to become the HA PC. Another change of environment. A different way to deal with personnel. But it's a challenge. I often wondered whether the lack of upper-studying would affect, and I felt it certainly did. Working in-sync with all the guys from SA and HA, I definitely learnt and benefitted. Thank you all guys. I really owe to you ppl.
And also the weddings which I attended. Samantha's and Yvonne's. Not to forget Wing Guan's upcoming one in 07 Jan. They were great events, and unforgettable also. ;)
And for the upcoming year, lotsa stuff to do. SAFISAM, Cobra Challenge, Unit Anniversary. Lotsa stuff to keep me occupied till I ORD. I just wish I do not need to ORD 2 months earlier, 'cos I really feel like going through the entire APD.
The best movies for this year, would have to go to The Incredibles and Spiderman 2. Kung Fu Hustle must be one of the lamest movies for this year (Welcome back Stephen Chow!).

As for my New Year Resolutions, just to keep it simple, are to do well in my upcoming studies, as well as to wish all friends and relatives good health and good luck :) Others, I shalt not elaborate. lol.
I wish all the best to my friends and colleagues in my unit, esp. those close dudes. Thanks for all your help throughout the year, and the remaining months during my stay in the unit. Without you, I doubt we could have done well. Cheers!

Hmmm. Did I do a wrong move? A mistake? Maybe I should not have pushed my luck too far and tried for a hard method to get ppl to help me out. But weighing the requirements, I just felt that it was the right way to go. I require help, and there I have the exact solution in front of me...Yet I tried to force it down the person through my command decision.
Was I not thinking straight? I dunno. Reflecting back, maybe I was too harsh. And too forceful. Not really my style of work, but when things need to get done, that is the method to use...or is it? Ordering ppl to do things which they do not like, not my SOP.
Just another bad move I did on a long, weary and cold day -.-

The Sand, The Sun, The Sea...
Successfully conducted the Coy Outing over @ Sentosa Beach, coupled with the beach games (volleyball, soccer, dipping) and a mini-'Amazing Race' for the guys in the Eastern and Central parts of the Island. Though we had only 3 days to effectively plan, recce and come out with the questions and how the how game was to work, I must say it was pretty well done given the short period of time.
And this event is remembered for the only group which failed to reach all 5 checkpoints...ended up with 200 pushups. Mwah~
And of course, hoped that all who attended had enjoyed themselves thoroughly. ^_^
After the event officially ended, with prize presentations, makan and some souvenirs for those present, it was time for R&R, and the party broke with the soccer dudes, the volleyball guys and the swimmers/suntanners. Mainly the younger lot, and it was certainly refreshing after all the morning activities. I guess they aint tired out...yet. :P
Joined the guys for some beach volleyball, and it was definitely fun! Well, been some time since I last went to the beach, and volleyball too. ;) And not to forget those who joined in...*ahem*ShiangHan/KokFong*ahem* haha. Great fun, and ended with the volleyball in the coconut tree nearby when Lionel attempted a kick to 'save' the ball...And wad happened was a ant-infested, camera clicking attempt to try to save the ball off the top of the tree. And, cameras aint from me...haha. Ended up with a lotta ppl crowding and looking up the tree as we tried to look for the ball and attempted to take the ball down. Climbing was useless as I ended up only halfway up the tree...Later we borrowed the ladder and a paddle for Vijay to poke it down, but resulted in having red ants raining down on us.
After that scare, we searched for longer sticks, and I managed to find a bamboo pole which fits the bill. Tied up the paddle with the bamboo pole, and voila! We've gotten ourselves one freakin' long pole to poke the ball. With the ladder, we situated it slightly away from the tree to prevent a repeat of the red-ant episode, and Vijay gingerly went up to poke the ball down, which was successful...finally.
All the expense just to save a ball. wahahah.
I think I gonna get sunburn sia....all the heat. Plus, sleepy....zzz. Dinner later. Geez! -_-"

Really dazed and shack. Mentally more than physically, esp. during the recent months.
Did I do something wrong? What's wrong with me? I just don't get it. The feeling just aint there.
Running also getting slower. I think if I take IPPT now, sure die. Dunno why. -.-
Is it something I've not done? Concentrating too much to work? Neglecting my physical fitness?
Maybe I AM putting too much effort. Then again, maybe I am not.
People comment that NSF should just do work, not too much, just nice would be good. Do it right, just don't get on the wrong side of your superiors, and a smooth 2.5 years...or so they say.
I like my job, yet...the fact remains that SAF (as a whole) doesnt recognise NSFs who dedicate themselves during their short stint in army.
And I'm talking of so many NSFs whom I've seen in my short stint as PC. Matthew, Kok Seng, Kumar, Xingda, Vijay, Jon etc... Maybe the unit recognises them...but more than that? I doubt so...
I wonder why. Are such ppl, in their eyes, not good? Why get ppl who can't work?
Letting those who are promising and with the passion and talent go, yet allow those unproven to sign on, not knowing what they can contribute.
Then again, I'm not pointing fingers at all those who signed on even before the day they step into SAF. I'm talking about those present, eating, sleeping, talking, working with us. Each has their own story. Each has their own working habits. Each has his/her own good points. Each has their own shortcomings. No one is perfect.
Perfection...a word, almost deviod of meaning now. What IS perfection? Searching for the answer, yet not finding it, certainly brings one to a non-conclusion.

After a hiatus of not blogging....man, it just feels weird to be typing....again :p Just woke up from a deep slumber, yesterday was really a sweaty night sia...took so damn long to find the bar where the guys are out for Jansen's bday party. lolx.
Finished my NFSU2 already, all cars unlocked, but due to the older version (w/o patch), couldn't unlock the final wide body kit. Manz...it doesnt bother me already. hahaz.
Recently was quite tired and busy due to so much stuff to handle, quite a lot to learn at the same time. Personally doing the reports really make you understand and learn more. Besides, learning from scratch aint easy.
On top of that, I can see the end of the tunnel! lolx. Not that I'm wishing for it, but the new cadet/officer-to-be, Allan, who is my replacement has finally come for OJT! Alas, his ORD is just 3 mths from mine, which effectively speaking does not really help much. Huh. Oh well. At least he would be in for a big 'Arrow'. Mwhahaha. Brought him around to have a look, and got him to read up on the CWP and TM on the first day, after briefly explaining what the entire 6DSMB organisation and working procedure is like. Of course, 1 day aint enough to cover all, and he has only 1.5 weeks of attachment, which is so little compared to what I had (3.5 weeks) in 6DSMB last year at this time. Intending to let him more into my jobscope as well as what the guys down on the ground do, so it's time to get hands dirty :evil:
Yesterday met up with Elton, Elvin, Jiahao, Sam and Kok Seng...the ORD batch. Dinner @ Yoshinoya. Oh and SSG Koh also joined in, Shiang Han was there also. Quite good to meet up with them after a long long time. All ard the same, not much changes, except Sam....his hairdo was.... -nothing to say-.
Played CS with them after dinner, but Kok Seng din join us...otherwise it would be a 4 on 4 fair match. lolx. Played at Parklane, and MSG Lee and CPT Don were supposed to join in, but both did not make it. So it was a 4 on 3 match, quite funny and good game. Elton and Jiahao at their best. lol. First to kill must be Elton :evil: otherwise I cant win hahahaz.
After CS, bid farewell, and joined the other group of guys, over at Duxton Rd. Really had no idea how to get there, nearly lost my way despite taking the NEL. Got directed wrongly, and ended up at Lucky Chinatown. After realising where EXACTLY they were supposed to be, I finally met up with the HA guys, who were already partying away. Stayed on, drank and played cards with them, after all it was a day to chill out. Nonetheless, soon it was to part, and when I reached home to wash out and sleep, it was a deep slumber sia. lolx.

Went to the last day of Sitex...man. Was it crowded... Rained prior to my arrival...showers did little to dampen the spirits of many bargain hunters looking to chew on some last minute snap-ups ^_^
Met up with Zhenming, who wanted to look @ some of the laptops, but BASICALLY he was there for a second time (he went yesterday). So I was there for the first time, getting phamplets thrown into my hands and ppl asking whether I'm interested in their products or not...
Was quite impressed by some of the products there I must say, like the expensive and exquisite looking Sony Vaio, which had a promoter, China-born I bet, promoting the stuff. Pretty okay guy I must say, but the price, $3999, just puts me off. Way off.
The HP booth was interesting, with the desktop they were trying to pitch. Zhenming was actually looking into a new computer, I was the one who told him to get a desktop so that he could play Doom 3 and HL2, so we started viewing the 'best-seller' for HP. Pretty good stats too. And the promoter was obviously some young DIY enthusiast who is on a temp job earning some money, and started talking about how the computer he's selling is good for games and stuff like that, plus the interior of the computer was shown to us :D Nice setup, not messy, but DIFFICULT to upgrade.
The Compaq booth just next door was also great. I asked the salesman what's the difference between them and HP since both were under the same boss, and he replied that it was just them selling their own brand of stuff, different from HP. My next pt, which I wanted to ask, was, so what's different....but I held that back ^^" And their pitch? Their's is worth the money, and cheaper. And the guy is obviously some undergrad who knows that students aint supposed to be into gaming and the like whilst shopping for a desktop/laptop. Yea. He's right....but I aint a student...for now =X
The best? Well, I stepped into the PDA section for HP, and this lady immediately asked whether I was looking for a PDA. I am open to all options, so I agreed for a demo of her PDA, naturally. :) And she proceeded to show me the functions of the PDA, not that I'm really that impressed, well, but the best part was that when she was showing the Word Recognition system of the PDA, it just failed. Yea. Failed to recognise her handwriting. And Zhenming tried, and failed. So my mind had thoughts like, "Gee...is this really reliable?!?!" And the lady was protesting that this is the first time she was showing it today afternoon and it was working fine earlier in the morning...in a cute way too ^_^" So, good-heartedly I decided to say that I would go around looking at more of the exhibits instead, and would come round should I make a decision.
The other booths were quite normal, same as the ones @ Suntec, albeit with more space for manouevring. The Panasonic models were pretty...yea. I think a couple were the Suzuki models from the Singapore Motorshow which just ended earlier in the month.
Quite cute larz, dounch yar think... 
But the cameras on display were much cuter...hahaz. Like the Canon D300 going for $1749 with lens...really itching to get it sia.
In the end, after milling about the exhibit hall, I chanced upon the place where they sell games, and I've bought my HL2 (Finally!) for $65 bucks. Woohoo! Time to play...hahaz.
And there were some nice playing time on the computers with the Razer mice. Damn cool. Think that's the next stuff I would get then.

Why?
Singapore voted for lousy-sounding Sylvester into the finals of SGIdols. And not to really condemn him, but his performances aint the standard of an Idol of late, and he basically stayed on due to his ability to rake in votes from fanatical fans attracted to his cool, punk, cute and handsome look. Argh. What a geezer, and what a way to 'win'.
To think that the much better sounding Olinda had to be 'sacrificed' this time round...Well, at least there wasnt Daphne around. Geez. I think the entire SGIdols is turning out to be a piece of crap show.
My suggestion: Have an elimination system instead. Most votes goes packing :p
I hope Taufik wins. Yea I really do. It'll be a farce if Syl wins. Ha.

Watched Mama Mia today evening with Grace! And it was a breathtaking performance, worthy for the $65 I splashed out for only Cat III tickets. It was really great to see the producer/director of the show mixing famous Abba songs into the musical, and the edited versions of some songs definitely proved a hit amongst the audience.
"He came from Geylang."
And that was a line which actually brought the audience into the show....by using andecotes which we are very familiar in.
Definitely a must watch. And pls note that it closes this mth....so hurry!
And I think I caught the fever....the Abba fever! :P All the fav songs, all back in one action packed musical!! w00t! Definitely never regretted watching it!

Pixar wins hands down for any animation movies, that's for sure, and their latest release surely cements their level of powerness in this very genre which they seem to call their own. Oh yea man. Incredible, I must say. And kudos to them also.
This is one down-to-earth movie which I would consider as lame, funny and interesting in the way u look at dysfunctional family where all the members have superpowers. A must watch, indeed.
So, not going to dwell too much on what the movie is about, to know it, watch it for yourself kayz...and, better book the tickets. Heard they are selling pipin' hot during this ultra long hols fever, and esp. since school's out lolx.
Watched this great movie with WW and JM, and pool session soon followed. Too bad, time flies, and it does. hahaz.
Still sore from badminton yesterday...lolx.
