Movies and CNY!

CNY is a festive period for get-togethers and getting ang paos....as for me, it's also baby-sitting time for my cousins' kids. HAHAHA. Got to play with them and interact with them! Gosh. Never really got to visit them often enough so it's good that we came together once a year at least. Guess everyone's leading their own lives huh??

Playing with the kids was fun...but it's not when they get over-rowdy I guess. Esp. the boys la. haha. The most impt thing was to ensure they do not do a low-wall stunt on u and end up heads-first on the ground. shudders.

Also, watched 2 movies on the first day, after the kids have gone home to nap! haha...功夫灌篮 (Kungfu Slam Dunk) starring Jay Chou and 长江七号 (CJ7) starring Stephen Chow. In my opinion, CJ7 seems more worth it...the main draw of this movie was not the plot or special effects, it was more of the cute alien 'dog' and the wonderful acting by Xu Jiao, who plays Chow's son. (Okay as u all should know by now, she's acting as a he.) And the alien 'dog' is super cute la! Gosh. Loved the scene when the son thinks there's a ghost, and the other scene where the alien does all the funny faces you can possibly imagine!!! To top it off, Chow does spoofs of famous movies like Mission Impossible and even his own Kungfu Hustle!!!

On the other hand, Chou's movie was not that nice. Other than the draw of watching him do slam dunks and do some gongfu here and there, there's really no plot at all and the apparent lack of clear direction was shown. Love sub-plot was hinted but not developed. A waste, indeed.

More angpaos for the next few days I hope! Hope CNY's not gonna break into another routine again. Gosh.

I Am Legend

A new movie with hints of I,Robot in it? Well, the poster looks as familiar as the scene in the end of I,Robot, where the destroyed Brooklyn bridge is seen in the background with the robots coming out of hiding.

Synopsis:
A man-made virus wipes out the population of New York City, leaving Robert Neville (Will Smith) the last human survivor in the city and possibly the world. Neville lives alone for three years, attempting to contact and find other possible survivors. He is watched by the Infected, mutant victims of the plague. Neville works to find a way to create a cure using his own immune blood, but he finds himself outnumbered by the Infected and running out of time.

I think it's gonna be interesting, not just scary, but it will be really an exploration of how one can survive for 3 years without ANY contact with another human being. An intriguing piece of story, and judging from the trailers, it seems like the directors have managed to carve out the personality of the main character, a character who struggles being the only one alive, and being alone.

I am, therefore, I will.

There's 23 letters there! *gasp* Oh no...has it found a new person to be hooked?!

Ok you might be thinking what the hell I'm doing so damn early on a Saturday morning with dripping wet hair. Just got home, a little tired but still awake nonetheless. Basically I was out the whole night after watching a movie at 9.40pm at The Cathay - Number 23.

I went home first to place my stuff, but got stuck in a traffic jam in Toa Payoh! OMG. Luckily, the bus I'm on managed to move to the next bus-stop, I got down and quickly walked home, hoping to see the cause of the jam also! Apparently the flyover from TPY to Braddell Road is closed, leading to the massive jam!

I got home and had dinner with parents, the sumptuous dinner more than made up for the lack of soccer today due to the incessant rain! Sighs. Was on the computer doing nothing and talked to Adeline, and realised she's also meeting Jac, so I had someone to go down with! Met her on 105 (which passes by my house area) and we went down to meet Jac, Hongwei and Peng Siang at The Cathay.

The movie was so-so la, guess Jim Carrey now no longer is the funny man we knew in The Mask?

Movie Marathon (part 4!)

4th post for the Movie Marathon mania...woohoo! (I din even know that it would be a marathon till I realised I've been catching 4 movies in 4 days. lol)

This time round I'm introducing...*drum roll*...The Pursuit of Happyness!

"And it was at that time that I thought about Thomas Jefferson writing that Declaration of Independence. Him saying that we have the right to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. And I thought about how he knew to put the 'pursuit' in there, like no one can actually have happiness. We can only pursue it."

It was a heartwarming and emotionally engaging for me, not simply a rags-to-riches story, but more of a story where it tells us that life is full of possibility if you put your heart into it and don't give up. Like when you do not get As for your exams, does it mean you're doomed? I'm now thinking twice about this now, because, to quote Adidas, "Nothing is Impossible".

So what is possibly? Possibly is a high chance, and probably means there's almost no chance. Well, just something I've learnt from the movie itself. But the inspiring message about the implacable power of love and determination drives home, and I'm sure the audience in the cinema were astounded at how Christopher Gardner faced adversity and managed to overcome the odds to pull through, sell his remaining bone density scanners, and deal with a rocky financial situation, all the while trying to keep his son happy.

There's no "Y" in happiness, only "I".

This movie is meaningful and I'm sure it is applicable to all people...in fact I was asking Ruhui if it ever is possible that a person like Gardner in OUR society were able to rebound from all those setbacks (or equivalent) and rise to his current status...Seems impossible, and I must say that he sure has a good deal of luck!

One of the best quotes of the film, "You got a dream, you gotta protect it. People can't do something themselves, they wanna tell you that you can't do it. You want something? Go get it. Period."

Maybe I should start believing in all these. Preserve on and you'll succeed (eventually). Fight on. Believe in yourself. Be good with people and do things with great determination. Lastly, protect my dream...

TMNT

Not TNT but TMNT - Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles! Fourth feature film for these green creatures, but I guess their value has not gone down...yet!

Luckily for me, this was a movie which was decided in advance; TMNT was due to open on a Friday instead of a Thursday, possibly to catch the evening crowd after a long week of work and with a weekend round the corner! Was in a fully-packed cinema with Yanling, and then a guy who sits so straight up (or is he tall? I dun think so...) plonked in the seat right in front of me! Darned. I tried to sit straight to view the movie, but his round head just blocked out the entire picture in the bottom center, which is super irritating. So I had no choice but to keep shifting my head left and right to watch the movie.

Maybe the design of the cinema was not meant for people sitting so straight up, or for tall people, but I had hoped that there would be some sense of understanding if you're tall and in the center of the cinema and sitting up straight. After that I had a sore neck...awww..

Anyway back to the movie...it was great to see a fully animated movie! But the turtles were a tad too slim for me Just didn't work out for me 'cos in my opinion (and from comics and the TV series) they were supposed to be much fatter and stockier. Wassup with the change in image? Dieting?! (I wonder how one goes dieting on a diet of pizzas. bUrP~~~~)

Overall it was quite good! But maybe I expected more from these green creatures, to deliver and to give a cool show. Mikey's jokes still crack me up, and the individual turtles' personalities were still more or less intact.

Was discussing with Yanling whether to go to St James or Clarke Quay to destress...to relax. After all, exams are coming in a month's time. Sighs. And still a lotta assignments to go, lab reports to chiong, and TESTS! OMG. Mid-term tests next week.

Totally sian.

After a short walk down Orchard Road, with the traffic thinning out from Cine to PS, and after some inconclusive decisions, we decided to go home. Well, rest well girl! You need the rest! Think of it as postponing of event. Haa~

Managed to catch the last train on NEL, last train on NS line, last feeder bus from my interchange. Phew! And that meant that I reached home at...1am. HA~

3rd movie in 3 days...1 more tomorrow! Long time never watch movies liaos...lol.

Tonight we dine in HELL!!!

Was wayyyy late for the meet-up with Marcus. Darned. Was jammed in traffic. Maybe the rain had something to do with it. Or maybe, Singapore has too many cars roaming the streets at certain periods of the day.

This was the movie which I initially wanted to watch, but did not have time to do so...and finally I can! Well I managed to go home early to rest, since there were no tutorials in the afternoon. Hit the gym in school first before I headed home, with no lunch (but I ain't hungry anyway) and having little more than a piece of duck and 2 tau sah piah for 'dinner'...it DOES help that they were food which I liked!

The movie was rated M18, but I wondered whether the rating was correct, or should it be R21...then again other than showing nipples and breasts and bare-chested dudes with outrageous 6-packs, the artistic style of filming it does not seem to be R21-rated (which I think is for shows with explicit sex scenes...like Basic Instinct?!?) But then again...18 year olds can view girls in (almost) full nude mehs? Hmms. Well this is something I wondered aloud during the course of the show.

Anyway to move on, it's inspiring to guys 'cos you're definitely awed by the 300 men each having 6-packs. Well the production notes stated that the cast had to undergo vigorous gym training to train up those "packs" of theirs. It helps that post-production helped to stencil the abs to make them more clear and defined.

The cinematography was very "Sin City"-like - the colours, topography, forms and even the dramatic sequencing of certain events and fighting scenes helped to increase the 'visual dynamics' of the movie. It was astounding, and the soundtrack accompanying the movie was of equivalent class.

But well, the violence might be something which can be considered to be gory and times, while visually stunning in certain scenes. Dramatic it might seem, but I think the type of gore and bloodshed in this film might tend to put off some of the women from watching the movie.

Felt hungry after the movie, but didn't get anything till I reached home, ate a tau sah piah (remaining 1) and worked on my lab report. *yawn*

Personal goal from henceforth: Gym more, eat less and healthily, achieve those outrageous stenciled 6-packs.

Stomp Ê Yard!

After trying to shove aside some time (and much-needed sleep) aside, I finally watched my first movie this month! Wow...the last one was Letters from Iwo Jima with Ruhui and PWC. Had a list of movies which I wanted to watch, such as TMNT, Pursuit of Happyness, etc, but I watched Stomp The Yard with Weili! Managed to catch our show in time too! Just that there was a person checking the tickets at the very same cinema...darned.

I must say that the dance scenes are pretty great to watch...something along the line of Happy Feet or Step Up, but the overall plot is simply bad to begin with. But well, at least we're entertained by the step-dancing and lovely movements they had to make.

The sub-plot of the guy chasing a girl who has a boyfriend...mans...maybe all of you out there should watch it...somehow. Teach you few tricks here and there *lol*

But overall...still passable based on the great dance movements! Plot sucks, so if you're going for a real good movie, maybe you should tune in to other movies instead :)

After the movie, we basically walked around - we had not shopped in Orchard for quite some time le, so we made our way to places like the Apple Shop @ Cine and NewUrbanMale at The Heeren. The giant screen for the iMac is uber cool! OMGosh. I think if you watch videos on it you can just chunk out your old TV if yours aint a Plasma or LCD type. It's super big and clear! Not to mention, WHITE :D

I wanna watch more movies! Pirates of the Carribean 3, TMNT, Pursuit of Happyness....the list goes on!!!!

Of Lettuce and Long Queues...

I hate people who misuse the AXS Machine!!! The AXS Machine is meant for people to collect the tickets they've booked online, if the booking collection queue is long, and if you really want to know which movies still have seats, can you just make a couple of strides over to the walk-in counters to do so?!?!? It's really a pain in the ass when there is a long queue in front of the AXS machine in GV Vivocity, with 4 people (I suppose they looked like 20+++???) trying to buy (or view?) tickets for the movies, while the rest of the people were waiting patiently behind them!

And gosh..maybe they did that 'cos the walk-in queue was really too long. It was madness. And it was just 4pm in the afternoon, on a Wednesday.

I seriously wondered why people never told them to hurry up, or the GV staff never offered to help them, who were clearly wasting time and having their faces stuck right in front of the that small pathetic screen. Perhaps it's in our nature not to stir trouble?

I stood there for barely a minute, and seeing that they are still fiddling with the touchscreen with little success, I decided to move on to the online ticket collection queue instead. At least, I was able to get my tickets EVEN BEFORE those 4 left the AXS machine. Pathetic.

That aside, finally met up with my jie to watch Protégé...

I must say it's a nice movie! Though I was wondering why is Daniel Wu at the side of the poster when he's seemingly the main lead in the movie? Andy Lau's cool as a drug dealer, and I must applaud his speech on anti-smoking. (Maybe we can use that in future anti-smoking campaigns?) Anita "MIA" Yuen was a bit disappointing as her role did not seem of much importance, and Louis Koo was really a bit-part player in this stellar (?) cast. Well...balancing 5 stars in a single movie isn't easy, but I think they managed to pull it off.

I particularly liked Zhang Jingchu's character, her role as a single parent mum (till Louis Koo came back in her life) struggling with providing her daughter with a decent life, and her life being messed by drugs...At least there was some dignity left in her when she died. It was quite sad that her character had to die in the hands of her husband, who was caught trafficking drugs to Singapore (lol). The sight of Louis Koo sweating like crazy was quite funny.

Loneliness is more powerful and scarier than drugs? That seems like the theme for the movie, and that's why people turn to drug to escape loneliness. Simple yet straight-to-your face message.

A gory part of the movie was how the cop's hand was whacked off while attempting to open a lock (wah lao...where got people do that one?) and how another cop was trying to shoot to open the door, and the bullets ricocheted off the door instead and hit his colleague. And another, on how Andy Lau's character died by cutting his own throat with a piece of tile from the toilet.

All in all, a wonderful movie. 4 out of 5 stars!



Post-movie dinner was great! Tried out Kim Gary's and after a short wait, we managed to get a seat. Seemed quite similar to the one I ate in KL previously, with all the cheese baked rice and such. After that, we popped by Giant Hypermart to get some stuff for Eup's mom, and waited for 30 minutes for lettuce which never arrived! Apparently the person thought we wanted parsley, then celery. Sheesh...Next time if there aint any more vegetables left on the racks, it just means it's sold out. lol.

CNY!

Whee! It's Chinese New Year again! It started off rather quietly at my grandmother's place, and I was left to be entertained by cards with my father and uncle, took a quick snooze for roughly an hour, and viola! The house was brimming with people!

All were late, and it could be attributed to it being a (lazy) Sunday. Well, glad to meet my cousins again and also their kids! 5 lovely babies running around the house (well, only 2 are essentially running, wielding 'swords', while a baby boy was attempting to take a walk all around the area and refusing to sleep.)

Being a rather split generation - 6 cousins married with 4 already having kids (1 overseas now) and 7 younger ones still about the 20 something age group - it was interesting to see a 'disparity' between us all. Those married busied themselves with their babies, while we 'younger ones' had to find things to do...well what else but to watch movies on the first day? (This can be attributed by the fact that we lack a mahjong table at grandma's place and the card table is quickly taken up by the adults.)

And with the younger ones having 3 overseas currently (macham outstation), 1 pak-tor-ing with bf, it's left with 3 of us. 3 less 1, so we decided against playing cards and headed for the cinemas to catch Jack Neo's newest production, "Just Follow Law", with cousin Peihuat and his wife and baby! (Well the first time for the baby to go to the movies wor~!)

This is a creative movie which takes a jibe at the ministries and their 'efficiencies'...so much so that I've realised they are really all true, aren't they? These are the very issues which we deal with in our daily lives - follow BLACK and WHITE, follow the LAW, shooting ARROWS, COMPLAIN to higher-ups, etc.

I was surprised to see Fann Wong acting so un-womanly in this film. But it definitely lends much-needed humour and with Gurmit Singh lending his acting talent in this film, it is not a lightweight cast either. Furthermore, the support cast is equally interesting and each had their funny moments.

I loved the part where the auntie learnt how to use computers and said that she has a blog called laozhabor.blogspot.com, and some of the more famous acronyms like CC (cover ca-chng), BCC (better cover ca-chng), "goodest" (better than gooder, which is better than good a.k.a. sibei hou ah!)

I'd HIGHLY RECOMMEND this movie! Sibei hou ah! Huat ah!

After that, back at grandma's house, I dabbled in 6 rounds of poker, and had dinner. Went out with Jiahui to watch movie (hopefully) despite the increasing crowds downtown, but we did not manage to catch any.

However, I stayed on with her to catch Norbit with her 2 other friends - Ben and Stephanie. This was after we did not manage to get any seats at PS, and had to move over to The Cathay to get 4 front row seats! But knowing the quality of the front row seats of Cathay cinemas versus that of GV's, we're rather assured that we won't leave with aching necks or strained backs.



The movie was super hilarious! Eddie Murphy starred in 3 roles, and I really wondered how he managed to do it all out, especially in scenes when Norbit and Rasputia appeared side by side! Of the 3 characters - Norbit, Rasputia and The Golden Wanton Orphanage owner Mr Wong - I loved the Mr Wong character with his superb (and funny) accent, great lines and being politically incorrect! Talk about being racist and spewing goofy lines during the wedding ceremony!

I personally thought it was funny, but it was not funny all the way...in fact only certain points in the movie created much needed laughter and amusement within the cinema-goers. Considering it's a late movie at 12.10am, I could be forgiven that some scenes seemed short of being a total nightmare to guys (refer to Car Wash scene...OMG *bangs head*).

Finished the movie at 2 plus, and we all got a lift from Ben home. It was a great day...and tomorrow's gonna be much much better!!!

Movies Galore!

Movies movies movies...'tis the season to be jolly...falalalala~~~~

Anyway, for the uninitiated, there are some really great movies this December! (or what is left of December...)

Recently caught The Holiday with Xingfang, and I must say it's a great movie despite what the reviews say...the only grouch I have was that we had to watch at the front row at PS 'cos it was nearly sold out!

And the screen was just less than 10 metres from the seat. Owww...how my neck ached.

Anyway, The Holiday is definitely a nice holiday movie with a theme of love running through it. Judging it side by side with Love Actually, I prefer the latter more...it's more sentimental, it's more powerful in the themes, and the actors were really great.

But I'll still settle for this movie this holiday season. Furthermore, Cameron Diaz's a bonus ;)

Another movie which I've watched was Confession of Pain, with Weili. The funny thing is, we managed to get into the cinema WITHOUT having our ticket stubs retained at all! There wasn't any front crew and being late for the show we decided to just go in first, talk later.

It was quite a nice movie, but somehow the plot is revealed to the audience barely a third into the show, meaning we already knew who was the murderer. Gosh...so much for capturing our undivided attention. The cast's acting holds the movie together, which is the plus point for this movie.

Anyway, there are much more nice shows coming next year! Harry Potter, Spiderman 3, Transformers...wow!

Today, sent off my brother at the airport...he's going off to Taiwan for his NS and will be gone for 11 months. Hoping to travel over there to meet him, maybe? But it's good that he managed to have the opportunity to work overseas...it's definitely going to be a good stint for him. Somehow, the home feels different without him around, just like how it felt when dad was away for months for work.

Okay time to pack my bag for the Kelong Trip tomorrow, and won't be back till the 1st of Jan! Thus, to all, have a wonderful 2007!

This is one helluva movie. Damn funny too! U'd should watch it 'cos I think the lines are super funny! Not to mention a geeky Scarlett Johansson, a nervy and stuttering Woody Allen whose lines are always the same, and the muscular Hugh Jackman (without his beard and claws this time).

As always, a witty movie made with a little of the 90s smell in it sure looks good! In fact, I kinda like the little 2-doored car which was showcased in the movie, driven by Woody Allen en route to 'save' Sondra. It's the Smart Fortwo:

Was reading an article on how the Airbus Industrie have (yet again) failed to deliver its goods on time. Is it relying too much on its brand name and past successes to cushion the ineffectiveness of the management?

Have a read of it on the recent Sunday Times, page 31 "What ails the world's largest passenger aircraft?" The article is informative, useful, and provokes some thoughts about management.

Politics in the company. Ain't it the best to have everything working in harmony, no squibbles, no quarrels? Alas, that's the ideal case only. Here, we see a company which is divided due to it being a transnational governement where politics play a role in the running of the company. An external force, one may say. As such, the company is made ineffective and there are many back-stabbing and problems arising.

No coordination. Simply put, everyone who made the parts did their own way. There was no centralised control over the entire building of the aircraft, and even if it was done, it was too late. One might wonder why such a large company spanning thousands of miles would NOT have thought of a basic plan to centralise control, planning and design.

Riding on past glories. Indeed, that's what I feel that Airbus is doing. It's successes with A310/A320/A340 have certainly placed it as one of the 2 leading makers of commercial jetliners, together with USA's Boeing. But has the A380 fulfilled the promise to its customers? Not by a mile. And in doing that, the airline companies have to restructure their plans, make adjustments, and this resulted in frustration and unhappiness over the company. Well, you'd wonder how would the response be for the next aircraft built by Airbus, right?

Welcome...to the world where time waits for no man. But well, we'd sure like an escape or 2 yea?

Over The Hedge - Fabulous! Hilarious!

Man, I've not regretted watching Over the Hedge. Simply fantastic. Work of art. I just love animated cartoon characters spewing jokes all around the movie. And the cinema rocked in laughter, in unison.

A little rush I must say, but still we managed to get into the cinema on time. Was having dinner over at MOS near Specialists' Shopping Centre, and then while I was admiring YS' watch, I realised that it was 7:44.

I quickly stopped the conversation and checked the timing for our movie.

The dreaded numbers came up. 7:50pm.

We immediately got up and walked towards The Cathay, hoping that the seats are still reserved. And on the way, I met *ahem* and her friend (who asked if I was still in the army - Stunner!)

The queue to grab the tickets for online booking was super long. It was long for the fact that the designated queue for online ticket collection has been closed and moved over to The Picturehouse queue, thus the long wait.

Once we got the tickets, we bade goodbye to *ahem* and her friend, and proceeded into the cinema.

The show had started.

And I laughed, even before settling down. 'Cos the show was filled with laughable stuff here and there, it just amazes me at the sheer intelligence of the people who came up with the script. Amazing!

After the movie, it was a ride back, and I enjoyed the time. Thanks!

Now, how am I gonna while my time at 4pm in school, waiting for people to collect the stores from me when the WHOLE group just decided not to even attend the briefing. Best. Sick and tired of people who said they did not receive the mail, when 6 others did.

Da Vinci Code

The list just goes on.

To admit blatantly, the movie aint that great as the book, but coming from the movie's perspective (to deny that the book ever existed) it was pretty much a good movie.

Well, save for the fact that our dear Robert Langdon solves mysteries and riddles as fast as the riddle is given to us, which really cuts down a lot of the thought processes he had undertaken as described in the book.

Was supposed to try out the 1900 and 1925 show at GV PS, but failed to get any seats. In the end, Yings and I went over to The Cathay to get the 2000 show, and proceeded to meet up with Tze for shopping.

And the seats we got? 2x couple seats on either side of the cinema, at the edges. Haha. We were undecided on how to place ourselves, cos...3 of them together and me alone? Haha.

While waiting for Geok, we just happily shopped, and well, I had my 'fun' teasing Yings and Yings had the liberity of snapping back, and Tze was just caught in the middle of the cross-fire...mans, it's great being in SG with frens, but then again, it's great having them around on treks too! Haha!

Just always need a group of friends around u :)

Realised what Tze said was true, during dinner. It's about listening to friends complain about things which you know you cannot soothe them...for example, girls saying themselves are fat. I'll just push the topic off the cliff as soon as it appears, as I know that there ain't any way I can console the girl. Just complain to me, but please, I know I cant do much to soothe u! (I dun mind lending the listening ear la!)

Movie was nice, food was nice, friends were nice...dang. Life just gotta get better!

Now, just gotta sit down, do my briefing stuff, as well as my proposals. Time's running short, my brain cells are pretty much dead (yet to replenish), and I've just gotta live life as it is...It's too nice to take it seriously? Maybe.

Mission Impossible III

This is one of the most anticipated movies of the year, and I missed the opening premiere on Wednesday, so I caught the show today with Joyce at Jubilee. Long time never meet up with her already, so it's just as well that she likes Tom Cruise. Haha.

Maggie Q is sizzling hot in that red number of hers! Totally blown away. Woah! And the Lambo was blown up! Such a waste of a multi-million vehicle.

Ethan Hunt (Tom Cruise) returns for the third installment in this series, which is very well-woven with the idea of lies and deceit, not to mention the standard high octane, fear inducing stunts, such as leaping off high buildings and pin-point accuracy.

Which makes me wonder whether the agents are God or are they only human. Haha. I wondered whether the record long jumper can even do the jump which Cruise did in the movie: jumping over a gaping hole in the bridge.

And this time round, we encounter a love story and how our dear Ethan Hunt tries to balance work and personal life, with his wife being dragged into the international spy game of high stakes.

U even have a scene of Tom Cruise running (somewhat spastically?) in Shanghai, saying "Rang Kai Rang Kai!"

Realised that AMK had run out of places to walk. Lack of arcades and upgrading which does not seem to cease really makes me wonder what has gone wrong with the area. It was once bustling with activity, but it seemed otherwise to me...

Narnia

Awesome, captivating...

And I think that some scenes are really damn seh. Especially prior to the last battle, the scenes of drawing of swords. Momentarily, I felt that it was THE scene I've been wanting to see.

Not to mention, the great battle.

I've been a fan of this series, the Chronicles of Narnia. When I learnt of its movie production 2 years back, I was very very excited. A search of my old books only turned up 2 of the 7 books in the series, as I waned to just refresh my memory of the entire story.

I felt sucked into the movie, especially from the time where the Ice Queen started to show Edmund her evil nature, and the "icing" of the Faun, due to Edmund's betrayal.

Many themes stuck in my mind throughout this movie, including that of kinship and trust. It was a great movie, and I enjoyed it very much.

After the movie, we managed to catch Huan Liang in action at his Christmas Caroling session at the Paragon. Slight drizzle did not dampen our spirits, as the whole of Orchard Road seemed transfixed on the Christmas mood.

Went to granny's place to celebrate 冬至, and meet up with my cousins for a while. It's good to be back with family, but somehow or rather, times have changed. I just feel it. Nonetheless, it was great being with them for the littlest of things, including dinner.

King Kong

King Kong meets T-Rex?

Geez, the trailer made it so interesting, just that...it seems like a scene was chopped off, the scene where the lady does a scene at the sea-side, screaming, and an accompanying roar from the forest is heard.

And if you thought it's a King Kong and T-Rex 1-on-1 fight, you're seriously mistakened.

Lots of action scenes, but the whole movie ended on a sad note. Which was expected, since this is a remake of the original Kong movie, and follows a little along the lines of Mighty Joe Young (or is it the other way round?).

Anyway, today was really an unexpected day in many ways more than one. And a tiring day too. Went out with family for hair-cut and making of spectacles for my brother, as well as eating Katong Laksa, then meeting friends for movie. Geez...my schedule is packed like a sardine!

Not to forget, there were a couple of acquaintances which I met up with all in the same building, Plaza Singapura! All within an hour. That was so...coincidental? Hope everything turns out right too. Haha.

Basically, a nice day, a nice evening, and a nice outing. What more could I ask for?

Maybe, just maybe, the answer I wish for.

Just keeping my fingers crossed for more outings.

Æon Flux Redux

This is a damn cool show. Period.

I'll pay to just watch Charlize Theron. Haha! Talk about coolness...

Did a run in the morning, then, a Batu briefing (with like, 5 participants and 4 comm members?), followed by taking a half-hour bus ride to Suntec City to get my SCM Race Pack (a singlet and shoe bag!), and then meeting Kossy & Huan Liang for the movie.

A busy day indeed, and I certainly enjoyed it.

After the movie, met up with Noel and we had dinner, then chilling out at Alley Bar was cool! Talk about lotsa stuff, and well, it's fun actually. Been some time since I chilled out, and hanging out with friends too. I think Uni made my life worse. Haha.

Just that the stuff we talk about, does remind me of certain events. And well, I do feel something inside, maybe it's a sign that I'm still uncertain of certain things. As we discussed more of such issues, it's a journey into self-reflection and asking yourself what you want out of life.

Dang...counting down to SCM already...getting worried, or maybe a lil psyched up too. Haha....Good luck to me >.<"

Based on the MTV animated series created by Peter Chung, "Aeon Flux" is set 400 years in the future, when disease has wiped out the majority of the earth's population except for one walled, protected city-state, Bregna, ruled by a congress of scientists. The story centers on Aeon Flux (Charlize Theron), the top operative in the underground 'Monican' rebellion - led by The Handler (Frances McDormand). When Aeon is sent on a mission to kill a government leader, she uncovers a world of secrets.

Man...this is a movie worth waiting for and looking forward to, esp after exams Charlize Theron looks damn cool (not to mention chio) in the poster and trailers!

4 Brothers...simply FABulous!

Man...4 Brothers is an awesome show! Just watched with Qingyi yesterday after school. Good stress-reliever, and about the only movie (I think) allows for the constant spewing of vulgarities (e.g. e all-famous f*ck) throughout the whole show, yet it does not degrade the quality of the show. In fact, it just makes it more interesting!

-SPOILERS-

Bascially, the show is about how 4 (not blood-related) brothers return to Detroit to attend their (adopted) mother's funeral, after being shot in an apparent bulgary of the convenience store (Thanksgiving period).

Moments of anguish, tears flowing on reviewing the actual crime happening. But what is heart-warming is how these 'brothers' come together to revenge their mother's death, on seeing the ineffectiveness of the police. Basically, they just take law into their own hands. The twists and turns, definitely interesting. Weave in a gang-leader or 2, and you've gotten yourself a great movie!

Just gotten my Saucony Grid Tangent shoes, and tried them out on Thursday evening. They're pretty good, though I feel that the foresole cushioning is a little lesser compared to my Asics Gel Landreth. Nonetheless, I hope that the shoes would allow me to use it for the upcoming SCM.

SCM, Batu, Mt K, Mt O...all in December....

But first...to conquer the piling amount of work...
