HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

TO THE GIRL WHO SIMPLY LOVES FOOD AND ANYTHING CUTE...
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO U!

Haha...never expected the surprise? Glad it turned out well despite the many 'stunts' which happened (e.g. hp no battery, change location last minute etc)

What had initially turned out to be a birthday surprise planned by Geok and me for her at her home (to ambush her) became a large scale effort involving Andy (thanks for coming all e way from the West!), Lai (heys! Sorry abt the changes in location -_-") and her friends! (Though I dunno you guys...thanks!)

It was simply too long a story to blog le. Guess you'll have to ask me on that. But I'll write the main points...Or you can ask the birthday ger herself...Yings! So the main points are...

We (inclu. Tze) decided to spring a surprise cake on her after her meet-up with her OAC frens at Eskibar. So I decided to meet Andy at Adam Road Food Centre and go down to setup. But alas, she messaged me, and we had to quickly change location; Lai was on her way down and had to turn back, Andy had to take a bus down to OCBC Centre.

And I was there early, looking for a carpark (which I later realised, costed a bomb o_O") Then I was trying to coordinate all the different people at different locations. And time ticked away, as it was closer to the appointment time.

Trying to give myself more slack, I msged Yings and told her I'm gonna be late 'cos of a jam along Orchard Rd (ya, jam @ 11pm @ nite? *lol*) And was wondering where Lai and Andy were...and they finally appeared @ UOB Centre! The plan rolled into motion: I was to meet Yings, 'entertain' her and bring her to the cake spot. Andy and Lai will prepare the cake, with trick candles which cannot be extinguished (I'm so evil).

So while I was communicating with Geok through SMS (and some calls), I was waiting for Yings at Fullerton (so that it is further from where Andy and co. were). And even the meeting point with Yings was messed up 'cos I was waiting, went over to Collyer Quay bus stop 'cos I din see her, and then went back again 'cos I saw her across the road. Damn chuan.

As we walked down the river (like auto. haha. lucky she never ask why I go by that route), we talked and then we approached Andy & Lai. She did not make out who they were, but saw a cake with brightly lit candles. Then our surprise appeared. A really shocked (but happy) girl...Haha. Simply amusing! Esp. seeing her try to blow out the candles which cannot be blown out. (haha) After that, we decided to relent, took off the melted top layer and other stuff, and gave her 20 more normal candles. This time round, the candles are all blown out.

Nice choc banana cake! Haha...

I should've taken her wistful smile and happy face as we all walked down the Singapore River. *lol*

But...I'm glad that you're happy! That's the most important thing I guess...be happy on your birthday, bask in the moment and enjoy the day, and have a wonderful 365 days till the next one!

P.S. This is like the second bday person to come out with 'stunts' -__-"

Sentosa! Sentosa!

It's been some time since I've been to Sentosa...at least the Palawan and Siloso beaches.

And boy, has the place changed. Well, the Palawan beach is so much nicer! Wow! Can't believe they actually made that place look better and newer than Siloso or Tanjong Beach areas!

It was just a hectic day...first met up at Harbourfront MRT with the Engin O-Week councillors and main comm, including Patrick, Ryan and Lionel. All were late, and I was early, so went over to HF to settle some accounts, buy a bottle of water and back to the station control I went, with more people gathering already.

Off we left for Sentosa, at 1030, and we dropped off at the Dolphin Lagoon, and started some ice-breaker games. Pretty bo liao, at least to me. If you went for camps, you will at least know the basic ice-breaker games, same for cheers. To stand out, you might have new cheers or games to play, but that's about it, right? So why waste my time? -sigh- I could've been with my OG for the first part of the day instead.

So in the end we played till around 1 plus, had lunch and started the beach games. Played 4 games out of 8 in total, and left to join Okailer for their outing! Whee!

I was so lucky! When I left the Engin ppl, I managed to catch the tram which was about to move off, then at the interchange I just happened to be able to squeeze into one of the trams for the Blue line to Siloso beach! Wow! And I even caught up with Yings and Geok who were walking back to the beach area!

Had fun at the beach! Not so much of the v-ball session, as I wasnt warmed up, quite tired after swimming up and down for the last game station I was at with the Engin people. So just sat down in the sun with Yings and Geok.

Then whilst the guys were playing v-ball, the girls decided to play the beach ball, and it floated/drifted to the NTU camp! And the guys were 'called in' to save it, in the end, a friendly dude from NTU helped pick the ball out of the water (since the whole camp is in the water) and all of us started on the water activities! Really felt so shuang to be in the water, esp under the hot sun!

Watching NTU ppl dunking and swinging their friends into the water, we decided to do the same ourselves...so one by one we swung each and every person into the water. Haha! And Hwi Bee and Yings got most number of water-dunkings. Damn funny! But it was fun! lol!

Fun and more fun, then we went up to build sandcastles, moats and 'defences' for our giant sand sculpture using only hands! Wow! Super fun! We even built bridges and high walls, watch towers and roads...and the task was to build till someone actually bothered to come over to take a look. Which really happened o_O (That's super cool!)

More fun, more water...and we left unwillingly at around 6 plus, 'cos Candice was waiting at Clarke Quay already, and we just took the bus out, went to Fisherman's Wharf at Clarke Quay to have a sumptuous dinner! Woohoo! What a great day! Hell yea!

I need more Sentosa outings. Haha.

Whee!

Too many things upcoming, too many things which happened. Yet all have been fun!

Ended Scarela's first Chalet outing! Totally awesome 3d2n at the Yacht Club along Changi Beach! The highlight, was not the BBQ, nor the SMU jump which we did to the SMU:Xtremists (aka NTU ODAC?), and not even the great sharing sessions we had in the cool room where all 14 of us squeezed in!

It was the nightwalk. Totally cool. Haha. And well, Changi is famous for its *ahem*Bak Poks*ahem* at night, so it was just as well that we did a stroll to the Cheers outlet there to get some drinks, and encountered them.

Not to mention interesting things about some of the people in the OG. Haha!

Sharing sessions, truth & truth (aka Double Truth) are really times when the issues come in and we get to know more stuff about each other. Crap just gets thrown out. And the sad stuff, just comes in.

Pictures in soon.

On another note...

I'm glad things are turning out better for some people. Even though it might just seem to be on the surface. Things changing for the better? I hope so ;)

Too many things on soon after...to note:
- Engin O-Week (as House IC. Sigh...need...help...)
- Consolidating Chem Engin O-Day Councillors (why me?!)
- Planning my mods and tuts (Jac! I need ur help!)
- Ohana Appreciation Dinner
- Matriculation Fair
- Scarela Outings?
- Okailer Outings?
- Fuego Outings? (Weili!)
- Skaid Outings?
- NDP Firework Outings?
- NBRR

Mizuno Wave Run...completed!

A so-called 'anniversary' for the SGRunners forumers...remembered how we first met the 'oldbies' over at Kovan MacDonalds for this first run together last year. And this time round, there was an even larger turnout. Super surprised, but why should I be? More people come and go, and this time round I've seen so many new faces.

Had to catch up with some old friends and chat about the times when we ran the Big 4 Runs - Mizuno, NBRR, AHM, SCSM. Too bad, can't take part in the AHM this time round, so it's kinda sad for me. -sigh-

The weather was great! No problems with dehydration for most of the runners, and for me, still in the recovering period, it was pretty good. Finished the run with a (official) time of 52.22, but I reckoned it to be about 50 mins as I was way back at the start point, and I had mainly walked and even stopped at a traffic junction for cars -_-"

After the run, we took pictures, rested and then had prata for the 30+ of us. Illegal gathering? Sure it seemed that way o_O"

Now...resting my legs at home. Tired tired. Chalet for Scarela coming up tomorrow! Woohoo!

Anyway, never hit my PB. Sheesh. But I guess I should be back in good shape for NBRR (I hope!)

Family

Met up with my cousins after a long time! Wow...it sure is great to meet up with them and interact, not to mention having the next generation kids running around or crying loudly for attention. Sure makes me feel old, esp. when the older of the lot was only 4 years old! That's a super duper 18 year difference! OMG.

Had fun babysitting. Haha! And I think my childhood was kinda off 'cos...I've not blown those gummy-like balloons before! So tried them out today. Uber shiok! lol! Blew some for my cousin's 2 kids, Owen and Ian.

Ian...everything must go his way!

My bro and Owen

My cousin and Coen

The newest addition with her 1 month birthday...*drum roll*...Emma!

Then the other 2 babies were being cuddled by people doing the pass-the-baby game, with lotsa attention showered on them, coaxing them into some response (other than to cry o.O")

It's really great to be back with family, I guess. And to see little ones grow up each time you see them. It just allows you to reflect on what you've done when you're at their age, but at that time, it was a period with lesser technologies and more laid-back (but fun) stuff to do! Like driving around parks in those battery operated cars. Like flying kites. Like having hide-and-seek at the void decks with no care in the world. Like playing hopscotch at the open park near you. Like playing skipping. And many many more...

Do children have it different nowadays? A generation gap has ensued, and it will always remain...2 decades difference.

Soon, our generation will be grippling with the shock of family life, loved ones and children. Wow. How fast lives pass us by. -sigh-

Cherish the Now, Remember the Past, Look to the Future.
For the Future will be a better one.

Tomorrow...Mizuno 10km run. It's just gonna be a fun non-competitive one for me. Kovan, here I come! ^_^

okailer! ok lor...

OKAILER! ARE YOU READY?
Ok lor...
OKAILER! ARE YOU READY?
Ok lor...
OKAILER! ARE YOU READY?
EVER-READY!

Oh yea...Just back from Ohana 2006! Our Rovers FOC...finally, it's done. New learning experiences, new friends found, and new freshies! And whilst you might think that Ohana is a very passe word to be used for the camp, think again.

OHANA = Outdoor Habitants.Absolute Nature Addicts

Well, how's that for a camp name? And to fittingly describe e process of outdoor life. Not to mention, Rover-ism. Haha! Kudos to Shuang Hui for thinking of this wonderful name!

I guess, when you are a councillor, and when you are a committee member, the entire view of the running of the show is different. I might not have realised it, but I guess LG was right that I kept going back to my OG to talk and ra-ra them. *sighs* Perhaps, I'm not suited for a organising committee role in camps. Hehs.

This is the first truly outdoor trip camp I've been to, since I missed the Rovers FOC last year round with the clashing of the trip with Chemical Engineering's (CHEss) one (which is the same this year round. ARGH!) But to say it was a different experience would be an understatement. OHANA 2006 sure rocked!

The satisfaction derived from games and events which flowed smoothly and steadily, the games which freshies played with aplomb, as well as the bonding for the OG sure brightened our day!

My OG is Okailer and we're represented by the Octopus, the cute ones as shown below!

Headed by our OGL Yihui (who's really full of crap and full of imagination by linking things here and there despite having no links...) and having councilors like Celina (quiet girl? But packs a punch when 'attacked!'), Jianlong (crappy guy with 'secret' to hide, revealed automatically after 4 days! Our own CLUEDO!), Geok (who is serious and really really the outdoor trekking type of person) and Yings (our ra-ra 1/2-freshie, 1/2-councilor! haha! But someone decided to end the acting early to allow her to talk to Lai. Haha!) To top it off, Candice and I are the attached committee members for the group! The 'King' and 'Queen' of Ohana! Woohoo! I sure had my fun!

Added to the mix was the fact that the OG was small! 5 councilors, 6 freshies (3 guys, 3 girls!) and 2 attached committee members! So it allowed us to know each other much better, esp. the late night digging of valuable information from the fresihes! Haha! Gossip, gossip!

Day 1

The first day went off with lotsa problems, well, teeny weeny ones to be exact. Had to arrive later than planned, at around 10am when we had thought the time reaching NUS is 9am! So we managed to pull it off by having the councilors play the various games with them!

Stations in school were cut short due to the change in timings, and the fact that the trekking in Bt Timah was to start at around the same time which was stated in the schedule of events. My station for Orientation Games was rock climbing, which meant that I had to belay the freshies through the routes, of which there are 3! Being with Ivy (25th!) and Alex sure helped! Being one of the first events in the entire schedule of events for the camp, the orientation games served as a warm-up session for the groups!

After that, it was to go for lunch already, and I had to rush from my game station, meet my freshie group (who I've not even talked to yet), have lunch and go straight down to Bukit Timah for the trek! And the games there were interesting! Too bad, no cheering allowed >_< Had fun talking to the freshies and strolling about! Woohoo! After that it was to ECP, set up tents, have dinner, SP night and night-cycling (conducted by LG & I!). Fun fun fun. Food food food!

Then we reached back at the campsite around 2am plus, washed up at Big Splash (toilets still open o.O) and I played with the councilors some stupid games, zi-hai! Then, committee de-brief and briefing for the next day. Totally late night!

Day 2

Another day as Game IC. This time round, went over with Patrick to Kreta Ayer CC at Hong Lim for our station for the Amazing Race (Rovers Edition). And we sure brought a lot of stuff along! Not to mention, the need to fill up 40 waterbags per group -_-" Left super early from ECP with less than an eighth of the stomach filled, and took the morning rush hour bus to town. Gee. People were looking at us bringing a box and 3 pails around. *lol*

It was also kinda disappointing that I did not take part in the actual playing of the game itself, and that only TWO out of SIX OGs visited my station! I want to play! >.< And the 2 OGs just happened to be mine's and Patrick's. Apparently, Chinatown is quite "off" from the entire route, but in the end my OG still managed to clinch the overall prize for the Amazing Race! U guys ROX!

After that we went to Pasir Ris Park for the Beach Games and Finale. Saw Yings who had a uber-cool tan-line due to the many hours under the sun digging holes o_O" Team managed to perform pretty good throughout all the games. While waiting for the start of the Finale, we played Pepsi-Cola-1-2-3 between 2 OGs, as well as dumping 'birthday boy' Yihui into the sea, despite him struggling desperately (even Tianqi helped in *lol*).

Dumping of logistics stuff for transport over to Ubin was held whilst the freshies set up their tents, and SP Night ensued. Screams, shouts and roars came from the bushes of the maze, but that was due to School of Medicine doing their fright night in there. (And not to mention I keep hearing the same things repeated I think I would know how many pairs went in. *lol*) After that the OG washed up, and the OG (less the guys who KO-ed) sat down to play indian poker, with a forfeit: Truth and Truth. Geez. Digging season began and all the different questions started flying around, mainly around the same *ahem* theme. Bonding session!

Day 3

Early morning rise was started with a stinging sensation on my right arm, due to an ant biting on my skin. Ugh. Realised Lai took up almost 3/4 of the groundsheet space! (Diagonal sleeping -_-") And the rest of the comm went into the hut, only to find it infested with ants! The reason? The presence of the cakes which were only placed in plastic boxes, which meant that ants were attracted to them. Emergency evacuation of all boxes and equipment were done, and we were kept busy ensuring that they were all ant-free! OMG. Then all the equipment were moved to the carpark to be uploaded into the bus. And off we went...to Ubin!

Trekking in Ubin with our large bags, we reached Noordin Beach and set up our Cluedo equipment. I roamed around the area in my bicycle, passing by many groups and giving them tasks to be done! After the rushing around from hut to hut, Campfire was the next BIG event! Wished I could cheer more and had taught them more cheers, but it never really happened. Sheesh! The skit performance by Vicco was hilarious and funny! Personal favourite, but too bad I cant have time to enjoy the show. Then we comm members did our final revealation of the entire Cluedo answer. Simply stunning! (And I guess that the freshies were as stunned as well 'cos I heard...SILENCE...)

After Campfire was our Nightwalk (Shuang Hui & I!) held at Murai Hut. Rhapsody came with a stunt...they lost their way en-route to the start point of the Nightwalk! Luckily, Lian Guo and Khenghui found them and brought them to the start point, which incidentally also led to the all-girls-comm group holland-ing themselves in Ubin en-route back to the campsite from Jelutong Beach.

Then, when all the Nightwalk peeps reached back to the campsite, we did our SP Revelation. Whilst the freshies had the time to talk it out romantically alone along the beach, the rest of the councilors zi-hai and played games...like my councilors, playing action heart attack! Then the girls started returning and we laid out the groundsheet in front of the beach (while listening to lound blasting of karaoke from the sea o_O") and talked...till everyone cannot tahan and they just went to sleep.

Day 4

End of camp! Well, it just seemed like yesterday that the camp had started! So it was a lil' sad that everything had to end...seems so quick too. Early morning sunrise at Ubin was wonderful! Too bad Okailer peeps are all soundly asleep. (Even got one sitting up and staring into outer space, then go back to zzz) Lazy me took out the groundsheet, laid on the ground, and Weiguang, Ivy and I just slept on it looking at the sky and feeling the early morning breeze! Not to forget, the log was strategically placed for our feet! Woohoo!

Morning was all about taking photos and deciding the prizes, then we set off for the jetty. All the OGs were super super high, keep cheering/singing/shouting/talking throughout the walk. So it was a little sad to leave the island...

And over at Changi, they gave out the prizes for Best Camper (Kellie from Ezuka), Best Councilor (Lionel) and Best OG (Vico!) It's a little sad that my OG never won the Best OG, but I fully agree that Vico deserved to win, so kudos to them! They're really high + bonded + super enthu! (Though lacking on the part to listen to instructions a.k.a. bo-chup...*thinks*)

After that, it was lunch with the OG at Changi Village, then off to school (bus 2 + MRT east-west + bus 95) for tent washing...Jianlong, Yings, Chin Khiong and Zhanwei followed along to help, and when we reached, we saw Huifen, Ivy, JJ, Teng Yong, Weimin and the rest of the comm over there washing tents. A totally WET affair! haha!

The fun's over...or is it? *smiles*

Matriculation Fair, AGM, Meetings, School...geez -_-" How I wish the camp didn't end so fast.

2 more days to Ohana!

Kays...first I've decided that this entire post shall be ORANGE. Haha...In preparation for OHANA 2006!

Oh mans. Cant wait for it to happen. I'm pretty much psyched up. Just that I wish I can spend more time with my OG instead of running around doing stations. Maybe I'm more suited to the RA-RA role then a committee role doing up the games? I dunno.

But we shall see *smiles*

Today was another day of stores and logistics packing. Realised that more and more stuff are stacking up in that small little room of ours, overflowing out of our table and there are tons of stuff screaming to be put on the back of the lorry. Alas, we'll only have the great covered-up lorry only on Monday morning. So all have to wait.

But at least we've gotten the SSA open on Sunday. That's better, with last minute preparations able to be done, and any logistics stuff required for the next morning being made available.

It's been a great time doing the stuff with the 26th. All the funny jokes, name calling, Shuang Hui's "TIANQI YOU SUCK" etc flying around, plus the *ahem* *ahem* joke which I-shall-not-mention-here. So far, so good. Let's get it over and done with.

Maybe, it'll turn out just well. Committee bonding done through the stupid things we do. HAHA.

And on another note, finally started on my run. Haha. Been awhile, but having to deal with a 10km Mizuno run next Sunday, I've just gonna get myself running. So I did. Ran to Boundary Road and back tonight, felt really great.

More runs, more runs.

Alas, no AHM for me due to the coming committee trip. -sigh-

(it's sorta in order of wishing also. HAHA. Someone got the 'last prize')

And not to forget (how can I?) my OG Scarela! A surprise birthday cake during KTV on Monday! Wow! Thanks to Ethan, Matthew, Jason, Samantha, Li Xiang, Edison, Anqi and Sherri!

(Hope I've not missed out anyone)

Looking forth

Wow. 1 more week to Ohana! Well, actually it's only 6 more days. OMGosh.

Preparations are taking up speed. We see the urgency. That's good.

And I'm hyping myself up. Or maybe I'm just overly enthusiastic. *sighs* For example, I can't sing along a song I like 'cos my singing sucks. Sheesh. Gets a lil' irritating when u keep getting reminded that "Shiyao, your singing sucks"

I never said it didn't. I accept that my singing sucks.

Anyway, looking forward (the name of this post too), there seems to be quite a number of things coming up...time to list them down I guess ;)

- Engin O-Week (as House IC...still need info!)
- Chem Engin O-Week (any news?)
- Matriculation Fair
- Rovers AGM and Rovers Committee Trip
- Rinjani in December? Quite possible
- To do SEP? Hmms...Or should I go for Work & Travel? (Anyone for the latter? Pls let me know wors!)
- Bidding for either a Business Module or an Arts GEM mod. (This time...MUST S/U!)
- Organise Pri School outing? o.O"
- Meet up with more friends
- More trips!
- Mizuno Run (Registered!)
- New Balance Real Run (Need to register!)
- Standard Chartered Marathon? (Since I never go AHM 'cos of comm trip. -sighs-)

That's a pretty long list. Not to mention living a happy life, plus the juggling of homework! The additional week might affect the SCM thingy. -sighs-

another cloudy day

I'd wish I had never slept. I'd wish the night did not come in. I'd wish the day never ended.

But it still did.

Promises, thoughts, running through my mind.

I wish I had someone here to talk to. I really do.

Today was just a nua-day at home. A relaxing day...too relaxing perhaps? Too cloudy/rainy to be out there running, though I really wish to just run my fears and worries away.

Tomorrow will be a sunny day! I sure hope so!

Wonderful day!

Simply wonderful.

Started off with a mini-Rovers celebration with a piece of cake at the Rovers table when I least expected. (How was I to expect anything whilst watching Hard Gay?!)

Then, went out in the afternoon. It was a great day out! Although the started sorta 'sputtered', as the hours went by talking became more free-flowing. Can't imagine myself finding more stuff in SG to do! OMG! (Am I really so boring or wad?!)

But anyway, thanks for making my day! Be happy, yea?

Early morning surprise...

...Straight in the face! (literally, pun not intended)

Thanks yings and laiyee for the special birthday surprise! Was really shocked to see the 2 of you outside my house waiting with a birthday cake. Not to mention, with yummy-licious raisins on the top!

But alas, I was given more than a piece of that cake. *lol*

Really, really had fun. You know, it's really comforting to know that such good, close friends exist who take the time and effort to make such a wonderful surprise for me!

(Now, I dunno how to repay them. Definitely not using 'Body Gloves', haha)

And my brother even helped out in their surprise! Providing a knife, candles and some other condiments. Well, maybe u 2 din think he was friendly, but I guess it was the time that made the difference, lol.

I was even tricked into thinking that yings went to meet her YEP friends the whole afternoon, and after leaving school just now, sending Geok to her Pasir Ris chalet, I did not suspect much of a thing...till I opened my laptop in an attempt to switch it off.

And that made me suspect something. But wells...I got to know the whole thing in the end.

Happiness!

On another note, I'm proud to say that our group Okailer has managed to finish our ID tags (for freshies), done up a rough sketch of our flag, and even created the bands!

Just a sample here:

The land of fingers...become...

The army of Octopus/Mo-Gus/Fingers/Sotongs

Our wrist tags! Kewl?

Yi Hui's half-drowning Octopus (in the end it went to Yings, who liked it so much!)

Yings' creation for me. I like it! (But sadly it's already destroyed)

Okay...time to get some rest. Meeting tomorrow...LONG DAY AHEAD. Look here for further updates! Whee~!
