Away Again...

Packing my stuff for another camp, this time, the Chemical Engineering Camp. Realised that it's a pretty light-weight camp, so, guess it would be much better.

Been trying to catch up on sleep after those few hectic days. Yeap. The wake.

Oh about that, I should thank the people who've been to the wake on Friday (which was the last day for prayers), to pay their last respects. It has been really nice of them to drop by. My SOL friends Alvin, Jie An, Kok Soon, Siew Shin came along in the evening (ard 5 plus), and Aloysius & Shuwei arrived shortly after. They sat around and we just talked, and dinner was also served. Shuwei, as always, will eat when there's free food...haha.

Later at night, my other JC friends, Grace, Hui Jun, Joo Hui, Michelle, Weichuan came, and I was at prayers, so I couldn't meet them. Funny thing is, they asked my cousin Lily whether I was around, and she forgot my name =X Junhong and Genevieve also arrived later, and after that we also sat down and chit-chatted over supper provided.

They also gave their prayers to my Granny, and that made my day better. Much better. Thanks guys ;)

* ~ * ~ *

Today was also the first OG outing, with the Sports Camp OG. Not bad for a first outing, decent turn-out. Haha. It's great to let loose after the wake, I guess. Being in other's company.

Initial plan was to meet at Selegie and have pool, but I was late. Met up with Alvin, Weiming, Sheena, Weishan and Seah there, with one table opened. After that, Shuping, Winnie, Arthur and Alex came along. After the pool at Snookerium at basement of Paradiz, we had a couple of games at the arcade over there. In fact, Bishy-Bashy and Daytona 2. Been a long time since I played Daytona...drifting....ooooh. And Wilson joined us before we left the Arcade, whilst Weishan and Seah left earlier due to their own committments.

Then, we went to have our makan at PS, meeting up with Ninghan and PeiRong there. Pastamania was our choice, and we managed to find seats there *whew!* Not to forget, the main way to finish left-over food was to play Zhong Ji Mi Ma...heh. Sharon, who came last, got sabotaged by the rest to eat down 4 pieces of the pasta remaining, which had already been fully covered by cheese and Tobasco Sauce. Evil sia...

Last stop for the day was at Rochor Beancurd. But before that, we had some ice-cream, and I made a quick rush to get my SP night gift and wrapping paper. Constance joined up with us at the stall, and whilst makan-ing the tao huey and slurping the tao huey zhui, we planned our next outing...ECP BLADING! Well, I'm interested...'cos I wanna learn blading haha.

But I also feel a little left out, I'm not too sure why. Maybe, not as talkative, not as friendly and not as interactive. Or just plain boring me. I just dunno.

* ~ * ~ *

Got my SP night gift, not too sure how the Chemical Engineering camp would turn out, since I prolly knew quite a number of the guys entering the Dept already. Oh well. Just see how it goes.

Tomorrow, 9am.

My body's tired...My mind's a whirl...

She's gone

Gone peacefully yesterday night, at 10.25pm.

I've just left the hospital after seeing her, sleeping so peacefully.

*sigh*

Some things, you just cannot anticipate.

Anyway, I'm calling off the birthday stuff. Sorry dudes. Another day, perhaps.

Uneasy Decisions

1 day, 2 different feelings

Returned from a trip to the movies with Tong Cai, really enjoyed War of the Worlds! Though, the ending was a little...bland? But at least it followed the novel. Oh well. I felt the CGI was pretty impressive, acting was laudable too ;) I guess, that's the happy half of the day.

Also just returned from the hospital, and it seems her condition has not been as good as before.

Her eyes were closed. Sleeping so peacefully.

A sense of loss and uneasiness swept through my heart and mind.

What could we, as family, do? Other than sitting/standing there watching helplessly whilst our loved one is on the bed, desperately fighting for every breath of air, yet taking slow, irregular breaths.

I'm sure it's painful for her. In fact, she seemed to be in a comatose state, a state where she could not react to what the people around her spoke. Stirrings seemed regular and not due to what we spoke to her.

I whispered to her eyes, telling her that me and my brother were around, letting her know of our presence.

Nothing more I could wish for than for her to open her eyes to see us one more time.

Or the thought of her attending my 21st birthday.

Or the thought of her seeing me go into university.

Just 1 month more...yet, 30 days seems so long. Even 3 days. A long long short. The chances? Negligible. Unless something unordinary happens.

Talked to Aloysius, 'cos at that moment, I felt that I needed to talk to someone. It's a difficult pill to swallow. When Grandfather left 4 years ago, it was exactly the same month.

That was the year of A levels.

I guess, I got quite shakened up, since I was much much much closer to my Grandfather than Granny. Still, I feel a sense of emotional loss.

I guess I'm just this type of guy...a guy who is sensitive. *sigh*

I've just got to wait and see. Hence, a silent vigil from now onwards.

Uncertainty

It's lingering on my mind, when my parents returned from home to discuss with me regarding my birthday plans this Friday.

"Granny's condition is getting worse from yesterday, (we) have talked the doctor & nurse. In my opinion, the birhtday celebration MAY have to cancel, but wait till tomorrow and decide."

I just saw my Granny yesterday, checking on her condition, seeing whether she's still okay. Apparently, not as good, but she seems to have phlegm in her throat and is unable to remove it. Breathing was heavy, but steady. It assured me that she was all and well the way she breathed while sleeping.

I'm at a loss. The news came as a shock, and was totally different from that I've seen yesterday.

Perhaps, if a person is meant to go, he/she has to go.

I'm still deliberating on how to deal with my birthday plans. Mostly on hold, simple affair. Just JC friends, camp mates, close friends...my head is throbbing, not due to this, but due to the flu which I've gotten via the camp recently.

I hope Granny is alright. Hang in there. Be strong.

Rejuvenated!

Ahhh....early Monday morning. Rejuvenated after 2 nights' worth of sleep, lotsa water, moisturizing cream and what-nots to revitalise a weak body after 6 day's worth of fun and games at Sportgasm 2005 organised by NUS Sports Club.

It definitely lives up to it's name, in fact, I thought it brinked on the meaning of lewd already. Haha.

Anyway, the camp enabled us to try out the different sports under the NUS Sports Club. We tried Archery, Basketball, Bouldering, Canoeing, Dragon-boating, Floorball, Handball, Netball, Rugby, Volleyball, Windsurfing, and got to witness Wakeboarding stunts and tricks. Not to forget, the different martial arts groups like Taekwando, Wushu, Judo, Silat etc. made performances to let us know more about their groups.

And how could I forget to mention my OG's name...WASSSUP?!?!?!

Oh yea, you guys certainly ROX! Most exciting (and I would like to say ENTERTAINING) OG in NUS SPORTS CAMP 2005! The people were great, and hilarious at times ;) U guys rock MY world!

Basically, the entire camp was hot hot hot! The sun was great, but maybe...too great at times. Almost everyone in my OG returned chao ta, except for one, who applied loads and loads of sunblock onto her skin. I think the complimentary sunblock which was given was not enough also. Haha.

Also managed to upload the Sports Camp pictures from my camera online here, and my Dive Trip pictures here. Enjoy! ;)

Now, time to plan my birthday...I realised I've not planned much till now. -sigh-

Any helpers...?

Darned...

It was a slow slow day today, and many of us got the "golden voice" of Shirley from Kelly's Services in the morning, awakened by her 9.30am early morning call. (Hello?! We're working night shift here!)

We got the same lines, "We'll not be extending your service any further, and would it be okay with you if your last day at work be on the 25th Jun?"

And...were we supposed to say "No"?. Guess not.

Damned obvious answer, but fits into my plans perfectly.

Why? Fri-Sun is my dive trip, Next Mon-Sat is the NUS Sports Camp. So in actual fact, I had thought of stopping work this week.

Wonders of it all. Was it telepathy?

So effectively, today's my 2nd last day at work, and I bought some Tau Sa Piah from Balestier Road to treat the people at the workplace. Glad they enjoyed it. Well, freshly-baked too!

* * *

Anyway, the main point of today's post is to state that Murphy's Law really does apply, in a myraid of ways. And it happened to me, not once, but twice in a span of 2 hours...

1) I was talking to my friends at the GHS'05 CallCenter that there would not be any inbounds regardless whether all of us were at our seats or not. Seems like Heaven had to play a prank on me by letting me have the honour of getting the last call.

But thank goodness it was someone willing to do the survey. Imagine kenna shouted at and scolded at despite being the last call of the day.

If that happens, I would just hang up and say, "Eh...oops?"

Anyway, back to the person, he's a Swede, and working here, as an expatriate. His monthly salary...woah. Not to mention, he's working in a good company. Anyway, good guy to talk to, and it took pretty fast to finish the survey. All 10 minutes.

Done, and I was a happy man.

2) I wanted to print my documents for my Travel Insurance (Diving Trip) and my Sports Camp stuff, but realised the Epson printer which I have cannot work, due to the requirement of drivers. So I had to search high and low for the drivers, install in and let it work. And I tried and tried but still couldn't get it to work. Restarted the computer, and it could work. BUT the best part was that the inks had dried up!

I was like..."WTF?! At this moment?!"

No choice...have to think of a solution outta this mess I've having....grrr...

Batman Begins

A gothic, dark scene of Gotham City indeed.

Awesome piece of movie, but, I'd still prefer Keaton as Batman (personal opinion, I guess.)

From training in the League of Shadows, to protector of Gotham by ridding it of the criminals. Nice clue-in to the initial movie which started it all, Batman, by having the introduction of the Joker.

And the new Batmobile (or BatTumbler?!) certainly rocks! The way the police tried to describe the Batmobile whilst chasing was entertaining, and surprisingly funny. Not to forget, the race-to-save-the-lady-in-the-Batmobile-whilst-her-life-is-on-the-balance certainly is cool. To top it off, we get to see the Batmobile 'fly' and the way Batman engages the weapon systems, it is certainly awesome (lying down position a la sniping position).

This movie also explores how Batman chose his path admist the darkness he finds himself him after the death of his parents. In a sense, this movie was great in the delivery, and better yet with the usage of the CGI.

One thing niggling me was the strange accent he had when he dons the Batsuit, it seemed different from normal Bruce Wayne. Probably he had a voice-changer to hide his true identity.

All in all, thumbs up, and kudos to this movie. Can't wait for the next one!
