Kids Nowadays...

They are definitely a different breed...from yesteryear, I guess. And when I mean by breed, it really IS. Had an interesting conversation from the forum which I surf regularly, and I guess that it is perturbing to notice a trend of more and more naughty kids who will scream, yell, shout and do basically everything and anything to gain attention, vent their temper and frustrations, and defy the adults.

One of the forumites actually described a scene of a kid who was about 7-8 years old, with his granny at the TOTO counter. Well, we all know that kids aint supposed to be there, but that is another matter althogether. The kid was screaming and wanting to shade those 'nice' coloured boxes of the 4D slip. The granny asked the kid to be quiet and behave well, as many eyes would definitely be on them, knowing the situation as well as Singaporeans' tendancy to be curious. The most shocking thing is to hear the kid threaten the granny "If you don't let me shade, I'll tell all of them that you mistreat me!".

Well, that was shocking. Indeed. Seems like there is a cultural (?) change of the young generation. Well, I'm not that old either, but somehow or rather, I feel that young Singaporeans are getting more and more spoilt. Handphones, Digital Cameras, MP3 Players etc...items which seemed so out of reach to normal Singaporeans less than a decade ago now populate the bags and pockets of the many Singaporean children, who deem that owning a piece of this technological advancement is a sign of status. Well, hell no. Added to the fact that they are getting more and more cocky and defiant, we definitely do not wish to look into the crystal ball to see what route Singapore would go, should they be the leaders of the future.

Yet, we tend to dismiss such child-like actions as part of growing up and learning the ropes. But, we cannot totally turn a blind eye to such intolerant behaviour, and more action has to be taken to address this issue. Definitely an issue worth pondering over.

On another note, was nearly hit in the groin today by a small kid (about 8 years old?) who suddenly held out his hand to block my path of running, even though I gave way to him. Luckily, I slowed down in time, and my *ahem* was intact. Heh. I dun really detest kids, but...some of them really do things which make them detestable creatures. :p

Oh yea...Weather getting hazy...Running in the evenings has become a no-no. Geez. Just as I thought I could get away with sleeping late and waking up late and running in evenings =.="

panda eyes x.x

That's the face you get after an entire (well, almost!) night of non-stop fun playing Mahjong, XBox and Maplestory (o.O") at Guanyu's place yesterday nite...haha. Had fun learning Mahjong, despite the bad 风水 at my seat initially. Well, I guessed it all changed with Hark Kah's entrance XD Hehehe...

So yeap it was a learning experience nonetheless *nods*

And after that, during the break from mahjong, it was time for XBox, courtesy of Weichuan and Guanyu. Played some racing game (GTR?), and realised that Huijun's a very good race driver, even though she's using a damn fast car o.O" And there I was...trying out with a lousy slow Subaru WRX STI, Honda Integra Type-R and Porsche Boxster. Haha. But I slowly got the hang of it...by then, it was nearly 2 plus le. lolx.

At that time, Guanyu was playing his World of Warcraft (WoW) and Hark Kah was slowly dozing off le...probably never slept much due to the earlier hectic day @ NUS Open House...probably. Then, it was Halo 2 time. lolx. I din really know how to maneouver a character using the XBox controls, being more used to the feeling of a mouse and keyboard, so it was a way diff feeling. Took a lotta time to get used to the shooting, viewing and moving of the person, and till now still not good >.<' Initially we played online, but I was getting trashed real bad, so ended up playing a co-operative match offline. That sounded fun, and it was. ^_^

After a while, Guanyu dozed off, so it was left with me, Weichuan and Huijun, and we were talking about our MapleStory characters. Downloaded the program into Guanyu's desktop, installed and played...till Weichuan kooned off even before showing me the stuff...the time then was about 5.30 am le. Huijun showed me her character, a Bowman, and I showed her my character, a Cleric. Thereafter, I proceeded to train my character a bit whilst she also kooned off...and I slept finally after not being able to jump around due to some new enemy move -__-"

Awoke at abt 10am, so it was a rough 5 hours cold sleep, my legs were freezing numb on waking up. Why? No blanket. Heh. Thereafter, we proceeded to play some more Tennis before packing up and going for lunch and then, our seperate ways.

Howl's Moving Castle

A simple outing with my JC friends to watch a nice movie, yet all went wrong...*sigh* And in the space of 30mins, I've just learnt a couple of things:

1. Check you damn tickets after you buy! Why do I say that? Another group of 6 people (ladies with some of her kids), thought they had bought the 3.05pm show and happily sat in, without checking their tickets upon buying, but the MOST FUMING THING was that the person din even BOTHER to check their tickets!!! I was like, what the f**k?!? They could actually let ppl with the wrong tickets go in! And it ended up with us watching the later show which the woman bought wrongly. Fine. We aint gonna ask her and the kids to stand up and move aside, and besides, I've missed quite a bit of the show with the negotiations with her and the manager in charge. It really disappoints me when I asked for a refund and it was rejected, as I had bought my correct seats and it was my right to sit in... But I guess, we should not try to deal with crying kids, should we? lolx.

2. Cathay Cineleisure shows start ON TIME. Oh yea man....damn rite on time sia...lolx. So when ya buy a ticket there which states 5.20pm, do go in slightly b4 that XD

3. UOB Mini looks cool, but the magnetic strip aint cool... My card is going to waste. Think I'll get a replacement, and those original big cards after all *rolls eyes*

At least the movie was good to soothe the anger I had...Definitely a must-watch movie! ^_^

Unit Anniversary

Although it was sorta a last-min put-together event, it flowed, fluidly and save for some minor faults, was certainly flawless.

The emcees were great and connected with our guys well :) And I thanks them both, Sam Jay and Eileen for that, even though I just met them that very evening to tell them the entire programme, they still managed to put in a strong performance. Kudos to BITZ for getting them in, and well, all in all, nicely executed.

Nonetheless, the real people behind the team were those in the Organising Committe, like WO Ravi, WO Lui, MSG Tan, Lawrence, Ah Chua, Puay Shen, Yong Ee, Ah Bear, Wan Poo, Xiao Qiang, Xingda, Vijay...And of course, the ladies (Seles, Pearly, Shirley, Jasmine) who were roped in last minute to tend to the Reception Counters, despite the overwhelming nos. of guys who were tryin to get their hands on the tickets. Not to forget, the changes we had to do to ensure things were smooth, esp. the change in programme.

And did I tell u that the guys absolutely loved the "Eileen Special"? lolx.

Managed to win smth too...lol. And it was a fluke, i think. haha. Not to mention, a lotta Armt guys won prizes too, big or small :)

After that, was supposed to adjourn home to rest, but got pulled to Wei Xiong's bday chalet (attended the day before the Unit Anniversary also, he was sure drunk after the alcohol :p). Had fun, honing my 麻将 skills. :p

Well, at the time, I also had some inner thoughts as well, thoughts which, I think I wont place it on public domain...Not the near future...lolx.

the itch that comes...

When you earn money, you have that lil' itch somewhere inside you, that wishes to spend it on something new, something latest in the market.

I guess it's the rush of sudden richness which engulfs your body when you start earning that lil' bit of cash. Cash, to any person, is so hard to handle, in fact it makes you have to make tough decisions also.

So much so that I was itching so much to get that particular 6230 from CPT Don...argh. $300. Sounded tempting also, with quite a no. of ppl egging me to get it. With freebies thrown in such as bluetooth headset and car charger, it sounded too good to be true. Literally.

In the end, Wan Poo took it. lolx. Guess I din have the heart to part with that amt of money. (Though I'm gg M'sia soon. Haha!)

Cobra Challenge...the Aftermath

Pain shot through both my legs, twice, throughout the competition. Once, it was both thighs, after we exited the forst. The other, when we were just 200m to the finishing line, both calves had to cramp. And I was like "Wad the f*k! So near still cramp!" to my tired body.

But the "We Can" spirit was certainly demonstrated by the fightin' spirit of my team, and I'm really proud to be running side by side with these guys.

Maybe I wasnt conditioned that well as them.

Started off by the run into the forest, we were the 2nd team behind 4SIR Team2, which entered first (they had a short guy running with an ALICE pack o.O), and another team from NSDC closing on us fast. But I guess the worst thing was to be stopped at each waypoint waiting for the personnel to stamp out the no. on the logsheet for me. Definitely wasted time. In the end, I had to run to catch up with the rest. Really a no-brainer, and I guess that's where my 'downfall' came. Each time I caught up, I was stopped at the next checkpoint. And more teams passed by me each minute. Not a healthy sight, but as we werent aiming to be the top few, we let them pass.

Before the race, our aim was to finish. Winning wasn't important. Logisticans vs Combatants. This competition was for ADF's taking, definitely. And 1SIR and 4SIR up there with them too. Why? 'Cos this involved jungle trekking/running, chionging of 'sua', Range, Casevac and SOC.

But we had some points to improve, should we decide to take part in the next competition. One was to train up earlier, prepare for more running training in SBO/FBO so that all people are used to the weight.

Another is to get used to the SOC/casevac of personnel also. Range is another factor. I'd admit that most of us were quite tired by the end of the march to the range, and that affected our score terribly. 51 outta 90 shots on target.

Nevertheless, we came, we saw, we participated, we finished. That's all it matter.

Added to the fact, we got ourselves in 20th placing outta 50 teams ^_^v

Now, just to rest my body, both legs still aching -.-'

deja vu

I always feel that there are cases of deja vu occuring for me. A dream becomes reality. But what goes beyond the dream, I'm unable to know.

But this sense of deja vu seems to have dwindled, seems to have lost its sense of purpose, for people come and go. Like or Love? I do not know.

To have a Seraph like an Angel, it's impossible to happen. There was already a difference in ranks, for a Seraph sits higher up the Council of Celestial Beings than the Angel, which is a mere lowly being.

There was once a time when the Seraph tried asking the Angel out for a simple event. The Seraph was instantly rejected, with a reason as simple as it seemed. Well, it seemed. The Seraph was hurt when the Angel gave a false reply, and he was unsettled on learning that. Why? He often wondered. He knew that the answer lay somewhere. Was it the ranks between them? Was it the difference in ideologies? Was it just a one-sided liking? What made the matters worse was the side-talk by the other beings, who made fun of him.

The Seraph can not yet decide, and the days tick by. Soon, it's time to bid goodbye, and he decides that he would not like to do so, and he would disappear, for he should not have done what he had. He had known the consequences of such actions, and it would be the talk of the other celestial beings, those closer to the Angel especially.

Yet, he trudges on, with mixed emotions of the Angel, who is bound for another destination, far away from him. What should the Seraph do? Two obvious routes lay to him. The first, to carry on the chasing, in the faint hope of getting her attention; the other is to drift away from the 'fantasy' world and to get on with life.

His current analysis is to let the Angel go, wishing the Angel bliss and happiness, whilst he goes on the long journey into life, looking out for the soul-mate whom he could share joy and happiness, sadness and tears. It wasn't really a tough decision actually, considering that he did not know the Angel's feelings towards him. Maybe it was a one-sided like/love. Blind Love, Fantasy, whatever. The Cancerian trait of loving undeservingly and giving much and asking little in return usually bears no fruit. At the back of the mind, he knows that he cannot break up the inseperable union of another bond, being a third party is the last thing he would every do.

Cancerian Traits

The Cancerian character is the least clear-cut of all those associated with the signs of the zodiac. It can range from the timid, dull, shy and withdrawn to the most brilliant, and famous Cancerians are to be found through the whole range of human activity. It is a fundamentally conservative and home-loving nature, appreciating the nest like quality of a secure base to which the male can retire when he needs a respite from the stresses of life, and in which the Cancerian woman can exercise her strong maternal instincts. The latter tends to like and to have a large family. `Nest like' is an appropriate adjective for the Cancerian home, for its inhabitants tend to favor the dark, mysterious but comfortable type of house which has something of the air of a den about it, a place which belongs to the family rather than existing as a showcase to impress visitors.
That is not to say that the Cancerian is unsociable, just that for them there is a time to socialize and a time to be solitary, and this is part of the apparent contradiction in their nature. Outwardly they can appear formidable - thick-skinned, unemotional, uncompromising, obstinately tenacious, purposeful, energetic, shrewd, intuitive and wise, sometimes with a philosophical profundity of thought verging on inspiration. Their intimates, however, may see a very different character, one with a sympathetic and kindly sensitivity to other people, especially those they love. They are able to identify with the situations of others because of the keenness of their imaginations. They are often over-imaginative and prone to fantasy, sometimes trying to shape their lives to fit some romantic ideal. They are appreciative of art and literature, and especially of drama, where the spectacle and ebb and flow of action and feeling particularly excite them. They may themselves possess considerable literary, artistic or oratorical talent. Their sharp ears and talent for mimicry can sometimes give them success on the stage, though their tendency to be emotional may make them overact. Interestingly - because they give the impression of being down-to-earth - they are often fascinated by the occult and are more open to psychic influence than the average. If they can reconcile the personal conflict of their urge to be outgoing with the reserve that causes them to withdraw into themselves, then at best they can inspire a generation, especially the youthful part of it, by their idealism. A job in which they can express this, and in which they can do well, would be as a leader in a youth organization.

In their personal relationships they are mentally a mixture of toughness and softness, often emotional and romantic to the point of sentimentality in their fantasies; but in real life and in marriage, their loving is not so sentimental but tenaciously loyal. Even if they have affairs (and they may do so, for the male in particular is open to sensual stimulation), their first loyalty remains to spouse and family, of whom they regard themselves as the protector. Both the Cancerian man and woman love unreservedly, giving much and asking little in return - in fact, one of the most important lessons they have to learn is how to receive gracefully. They are too easily influenced by those they love and admire, and swayed by the emotion of the moment. They are also loyal friends, the negative side of their faithfulness being clannishness, the narrow patriotism of "my country right or wrong"; and closing ranks in suspicion and coldness toward outsiders.

Cancerians have a retentive memory, particularly for emotionally laden events which they can recall in detail for years afterwards. they are strongly governed by childhood memories and since they live intensely in the past in memory and in the future in imagination, a chance meeting with someone for whom they had an unrequited love, even if they thought they had conquered the feeling, will easily rouse the emotion all over again.

The Cancerian has many potential faults. They can be untidy, sulky, devious, moody, inclined to self-pity because of an inferiority complex, brood on insults (very often imagined), yet are easily flattered. They can be tactless and difficult yet, because they are normally ambitious, they will curry favor by floating with majority opinions, outlooks and fashions of the day. As a result they often change their opinions and loyalties and, indeed, their occupations, and lack stability. They are easily corrupted and, because they are convincing romanticizers, can make successful confidence tricksters. Their romanticism in another sense make them ardent supporters of causes, for example a football team with whose heroes they can identify in a world of fantasy.

Their abilities fit the Cancerian for a wide range of occupations. As they are interested in what people are thinking and able to judge what they can safely be told, they can be good journalists, writers or politicians, though in this last capacity they are more likely to remain in the background rather than attain prominent positions of power. They may, indeed, change their party affiliations. They can serve in other departments of public affairs, especially those which involve looking after others, for example in any kind of service from welfare and nursing to catering - their own love of comfort and good living makes the Cancerian an excellent chef or housekeeper. They sometimes have a penchant for trade or business and are often successful as a captain of industry. This is because they are excellent organizers with a good sense of value and economy which they may combine with a flair for inventiveness and originality. The romantic side of their natures make them enjoy grubbing about in places where exciting discoveries may be made (old stamp collections in attics, etc.), and if they can do this professionally as a secondhand dealer or specialist in antiques, they will be happy. More common occupations which suit some subjects of Cancer are real estate broker, gardener and sailor.

Physically they are average to below average in height, with a fleshy body and short legs in comparison with the rest of them. Their hair is usually brown, their faces round, their complexions pale, their foreheads prominent, their eyes small and blue or gray in color, their noses short, perhaps upturned, and their mouths full. They sometimes walk clumsily.
